And it’s still snowing

And it’s still snowing

I shoveled for about 1.5 hrs this morning. I’ll probably shovel again in a couple hours. For those in the Northern hemisphere, how’s the snow where you are at (if it’s snowing)?

Not too much so far this year – maybe a foot and a half or two, all told.

During my mid day flight from Ottawa to Toronto, i received an email saying that my connecting flight to Windsor was cancelled due to weather. It looks like they are going to get dumped upon with relatively large amounts for the area, and to make things worse by tomorrow evening the windchill will be -40(C and F). I flew back to Ottawa and will try it again tomorrow. As for Ottawa amounts are back to regular winter amounts.

The temperature keeps dropping here. It’s 11F now. I’ve got to shovel more when I get home.

11F is cold!  We had that about a month ago, and now 32F feels relatively balmy!

It’s really warm today – 32F and sunny – so I went out and did a little clean-up/unearthing work on the porches and driveway. I didn’t even need gloves! We have lots of icicles right now, even on the north side of the house.

If it makes you feel any better, had a yard like that in Rochester, NY. We awoke to snow up to where the tops of the chain linked fence fold over. We couldn’t even open the side door. We had to shovel the roof or risk a cave in. They were using bulldozers to move it. It went to the school playground down the street. (I think it was 48″ in about 10hrs)

This sounds terrible but we would throw some of it into the street, just because there was physically no more room and we couldn’t shovel that high.

I know it’s been worse than that, but I always try to remember someone’s always got it worse.

It was awesome in that ppl were cross country skiing, riding snowmobiles, etc through the streets.

Chad Haney    Is it always like this in the Winter months? How do you get to work if your car gets covered with snow overnight? I have experienced snow only during the few years I lived in the UK.

No snow here, yet.  Just wind and frigid temps.

Siromi Samarasinghe, I fortunately have a garage for my car. We don’t routinely get this amount of snow in a short time. On the other hand, it isn’t completely abnormal.

Chad Haney I got a new winter jacket this weekend so I am adjusting better 😛 I can’t believe how snowy it is there for you, it looks and sounds so cold! How’s Ana handling it? Chico can’t handle the cold at all, even when it rains for too long (temp remains at 27C) she huddles into a ball and sleeps!

Ana is OK with the cold. However, this morning at -16°F/-27°C, she went out to pee and wanted to go right back inside.

Chad Haney Good to know that Ana is handling the cold well. Hope the weather improves over there.

As Buddhini Samarasinghe mentioned, Chico finds rainy days to be really cold. Her ears get cold and she becomes very lethargic. She would not survive in Winter temperatures!
