The Whistle Song – Frankie Knuckles
Frankie Knuckles was a pioneer in dance music. He was born in NY in 1955 and moved to Chicago in the late 70s, as disco music was fading. He played a lot of white label records, i.e. un-released, at the Warehouse at 206 S. Jefferson St. Kids would go to the record store to buy the music and say they wanted to buy that Warehouse music. It later turned to, where can I buy that house music, because that’s easier to say. At least that’s the story I heard. So Frankie Knuckles helped create the genre and it’s name: House Music. It’s pretty impressive to have the Mayor of Chicago comment on the passing of a DJ. That’s because Frankie wasn’t an ordinary DJ. You can read more in the Chicago Tribune:

I shared this song over a year ago but I had to share it again. It’s my favorite Frankie Knuckles song.

Natural Squirrel Repellent
I’m guessing this is the same hawk that I took a picture of last year. It’s sitting on the neighbor’s property, next to their bird feeder. All of the squirrels and birds disappeared. It was kind of nice. I like birds. However, the neighbors overfill (overfeed) the bird feeder. So we have a problem with bird crap all over and opossums. I hope this hawk or the kestrels stop by more often. I would have gotten a better shot but I didn’t want to startle it by going outside. This was taken through the window. I’m not ashamed to admit that I don’t have a long lens.
