Seasons (Waiting on You) – Future Islands
It’s been a while since I posted something for #MusicMonday
Seasons change,
And I tried hard just to soften you
Seasons change,
But I’ve grown tired of trying to change for you
Cause I’ve been waiting on you
I’ve been waiting on you
Cause I’ve been waiting on you
I’ve been waiting on you
As it breaks, the summer will wake
But the winter will wash what is left of the taste
As it breaks, the summer will warm
But the winter will crave what is gone
Will crave what has all… gone away
People change,
You know but some people never do
You know when people change
They gain a peace but they lose one too
Cause I’ve been hanging on you
I’ve been waiting on you
Cause I’ve been waiting on you
I’ve been hanging on you
As it breaks, the summer will wake
But the winter will wash what is left of the taste
As it breaks, the summer will warm
But the winter will crave what is gone
Will crave what is gone
Will crave what has all… gone away
Cause I’ve been waiting on you

It’s a mistake – Men at Work
I wouldn’t know anything about Miss Universe 2015 if it weren’t for Steve Harvey.
Jump down the shelters to get away
The boys are cockin’ up their guns
Tell us General is it party time?
If it is can we all come?
Don’t think that we don’t know
Don’t think that we’re not tryin’, no no no
Don’t think we move too slow
It’s no use after cryin’
Sayin’ “It’s a mistake, it’s a mistake
It’s a mistake, it’s a mistake”
After the laughter has died away
And all the boys have had their fun
No surface noise now, not much to say
They’ve got the bad guys on the run
Don’t try to say you’re sorry
Don’t say he drew his gun
They’ve gone and grabbed old Ronnie
He’s not the only one
Sayin’, “It’s a mistake, it’s a mistake
It’s a mistake, it’s a mistake”
Tell us commander, what do you think?
‘Cos we know that you love all that power
Is it on then, are we on the brink?
We wish you’d all throw in the towel
We’ll not fade out too soon
Not in this finest hour
Whistle your favorite tune
We’ll send a card and flower
Sayin’, “It’s a mistake, it’s a mistake
It’s a mistake, it’s a mistake”
Oh
It’s a mistake, it’s a mistake
It’s a mistake, it’s a mistake
It’s a mistake, it’s a mistake

My life in three songs
WBEZ’s The Morning Shift, has been running a segment on their show called “My life in three songs”. Some people said they were able to come up with three songs immediately. I love music and many genres, but I couldn’t think of three songs. I kept looking through playlists, CDs, and was about to dig through my vinyl. Then I remembered that a handful of my #MusicMonday posts were more than just ‘hey here’s a song I like and here’s the lyrics’. The first song/post I picked is Fortunate Son by Creedence Clearwater Revival. It’s not only a good song but the post will explain how I relate to it.

The second song is Don’t stop believing by Journey. The first reason I picked this song is because I’m a Red Wings fan. The post linked below explains that for those who don’t know. The song also has another relationship to my life. You have to believe in yourself. I wouldn’t be where I am now if I didn’t believe in myself. I grew up relatively poor with no expectation to go to college. I knew we couldn’t afford it and I wasn’t going to get an athletic or academic scholarship. Several student loans later, which I’ll lament about later, and I’ve been a scientist at two of Chicago’s premier universities for over a decade.

The last song is Echoes part 1 by Pink Floyd. I’m a big Pink Floyd fan and most of the friends I’ve made on Google Plus grew from talking about Pink Floyd. If you look at Rajini Rao’s and Gnotic Pasta’s profiles, would you guess we all became good friends because of Pink Floyd? So I had to pick a Pink Floyd song, but which one? What about Dogs? I love dogs; I post a lot about dogs. What about Comfortably numb? I chose Echoes because it’s a great song and I use echoes all the time. You’ll have to read my MRI 101 post to figure out how echoes related to MRI.

Have a great #MusicMonday and I challenge you to tell me your life in three songs.
