Natural Squirrel Repellent

Natural Squirrel Repellent

I’m guessing this is the same hawk that I took a picture of last year. It’s sitting on the neighbor’s property, next to their bird feeder. All of the squirrels and birds disappeared. It was kind of nice. I like birds. However, the neighbors overfill (overfeed) the bird feeder. So we have a problem with bird crap all over and opossums. I hope this hawk or the kestrels stop by more often. I would have gotten a better shot but I didn’t want to startle it by going outside. This was taken through the window. I’m not ashamed to admit that I don’t have a long lens.

Nice!!! Looks a little bit like the guy that landed in my kitchen some years ago (though he was an eagle). Considering it was a 7th floor apartment, that was quite something 🙂

Gita Jaisinghani what’s up with you and LP and birds? You had the story about the crow and now an eagle. Wow.

Put out a few mice in the birdfeeder to bring him back? 😉

We had traces of mice in the garage a while ago. I don’t know what happened to them. Ana is pretty good at finding mice. The birds seem to be on the menu for the kestrels as they have left small-bird fragments in my lawn.

I hope so. I think they were siblings. I don’t think kestrels stay together but I don’t know. I’d love to see them again this summer.

  17. Hehe the eagle Gita Jaisinghani is talking about was a magnificent fella. He yelled his head off trying to get out of the kitchen, and banging against the glass. Long story, but finally an animal rescue pvt. NGO landed up and he attacked them, but simmered down when they gave him water and stroked his head. He glowered at all and sundry. And then went meekly off as they took him for tagging and release.

It snowed again last night Corina Marinescu

I’ll put the eagle story on the agenda SciFi Author: Lacerant Plainer and Gita Jaisinghani.

Peter Lindelauf I don’t think I can bring any kestrels with me. It was fun watching them eat.

Heh we should, Chad Haney! I don’t know what it is with the recurring bird motif…. I don’t even like them all that much!

Good on’ya Chad Haney for not falling into the lens envy. I have a long lens, but it cost me. I could have a Tesla now if I’d invested in them instead of it. Not sure replacing a lens with a car helps any though.

Joking aside, great opportunity with the bird(s) of prey. Maybe you could hunt down any mouse holes, cover them at night, open the garage in the morning and get shots of the kestrels hunting? Btw, if you have pets, keep an eye on them. I’ve seen redtail hawks take out smallish coyotes. Bird of prey claws are impressive.

Yes, bird of prey talons are impressive. A friend rescued a young screech owl and that little bugger’s talons were sharp. I got a chance to feed it a few times.
