I’m obliged to listen to some AC/DC this morning. I listened to a wide variety of music genres when I was growing up. In some sense it was a genuine broad interest but it was also a coping mechanism to fit in, being mixed race. My cousin and another friend in his neighborhood introduced me to Queen, AC/DC, and Iron Maiden. I quickly became able to switch from heavy metal to reggae to rap. Today, I genuinely love all of those.

AC/DC put out so much powerful music in the late 70s and early 80s. I’m glad I grew up in such a musically rich time.

RIP Malcolm. Dementia is a tough way to go.

AC/DC co-founder Malcolm Young dies aged 64

TEN YEARS of dementia! What a sad and bad end to a shining light of my generation. I’d not realized how extensive and meaningful this band is in my life. Such a fantastic catalogue of memorable music.

Thanks for your thoughts here. I had had no idea just how extensive their catalog is and how many songs were familiar, until I saw them perform.
