Not much to show for flowers this summer.

Not much to show for flowers this summer. Too much rain and not enough sunshine. We kind of messed up and didn’t put our cosmos and marigold seedlings in bigger containers soon enough. We lost almost all of them. We will learn from this and hopefully do better next year. The blazing stars were pretty sad, partly due to the rabbits and squirrels. The squirrels have eaten the buds on all of our dahlias. They should have had several flowers by now but there just hasn’t been enough sunlight for them.

My columbine is blooming for the second time! I’m really excited about that. Aside from that, I mostly did not weed this summer so the flowerbed was a jumbled mess. Still, a few flowers braved it, and a lot of fireweed.

Too much rain as well. Plus Benny the lawn guy got super aggressive about pruning the shrubs and hacked up my rose bushes and everything else in the middle of summer…he thought he was being helpful :/ So quite a disaster over all. At least I got a lot of heirloom tomatoes and green peppers, although the bunnies got all the greens.

Rajini Rao sounds like Peter Lindelauf is having a better summer.
