I killed my Christmas cactus… and it was my grandma’s. No idea what I did wrong, but I did it.

Jodi Kaplan sorry to hear that. We have a gigantic rubber tree plant. My wife got it from her former boss, a sweet lady that was more of a mentor than a boss. She passed away from cancer. So we hope to keep the rubber tree plant alive in her memory. Funny how plants can remind you of people you care about.

I see rubber tree plant and all I can think is:

    🎶Once there was a silly old ant/Who thought he’d move a rubber tree plant🎶

Jodi Kaplan Almost killed my Christmas cactus recently, after having it almost 20 years. We had moved, and I mistakenly placed it where it would get far too much sun.

Best place for them is in a north-facing window. When mine was there in my old house, it grew pretty big, and I could get it to bloom a couple of times a year.

Ah, this was off to one side in a room with east and west windows. Maybe that was the problem Scott Gomez. I do have north facing windows but it would be tricky to put plants there, since one is over the radiator and the other is over the A/C.

Jodi Kaplan if you live where it gets cold, maybe it’ll like the heat from the radiator. Would need a lot more water than usual, though.

I do live where it gets cold, but the radiator here has two settings: off and melting point of lead.

Jodi Kaplan yikes! Well maybe you’ll think of another place. As long as it gets a good amount of indirect sunlight it’ll probably be happy.
